There is an issue with some Software Called The Burning Crusade (A expansion Beta of World of Warcraft <Game> )

The application will not Open because of OS X 10.4.8 was released after the beta was. So for new people like me trying to run the program it wont let me. What the Blizzard Mac technical support guy said was "Installing 10.4.7 is as easy as running the OS X installer and doing an Archive&Install, then patching up using the 10.4.7 combo updater."

Ummm, Can some one give me the simple steps on how to do this, like "go to this folder and start up that, then click on that thing" ,If you know what i mean

Thanks

OK, simple steps.
insert OS X installer disk,
restart holding the C key
Choose the language to install.
When you get to the screen to choose the drive for installing - click the Options button, and choose the Archive & Install option, also check that you want to keep the user settings.
Click install, and click install again. - and wait for the install to complete. Then you can update as needed. Just don't update to the level that prevents running that game.

Seems like a lot of effort, simply to use a game, but that's just me....
Does the WOW patch 2.0.1 take care of the issue without reverting to an older version of OS X ?

Yes it does, but what happend was this beta was released before 10.4.8, and blizzard included in one of there patches so the BC beta would run on 10.4.8, but they forgot to fix the initial patch so when i go to start up the program it doesnt work.

Also did you mean the OS X Panther disc?

Well, no, unless the beta requires that. Otherwise, just use your 10.4.x installer DVD.

Well i got one of the First versions of the G5 powerPC, the version i have is 10.3.5. Will that still work?
I dont want to go back to 10.3.5 and then have to install Panther again.

Will the Archive&Install just take 1 step back, Going from 10.4.8 to 10.4.7?

Don't you have the disk that you used to update to Tiger? You would still need to use that 10.4 disk even if you went back to 10.3.5

What did Blizzard tell you is the newest version you can use with the beta?

10.4.7

All the first G5 powerPC's came with Tiger, then upgrading into Panther

Which is really confusing seeing my computer came with 10.3.5 and panther is 10.3?

I just want to down step from 10.4.8 to 10.4.7

Isent there a easyer way¿

Half of the staff have gone on christmas break, i doubt it will be fixed any time before the new year

That's confusing because you have the product names backwards.
Panther is 10.3.x, and Tiger is 10.4.x
(info - the first PowerMac G5 came with 10.2.7, which is Jaguar ! And, of course, the last PowerMacs came with some version of Tiger 10.4.x)
An Archive & Install of Tiger will take you back to whatever that installer version is. Tiger has had 3 versions - 10.4, 10.4.3, and 10.4.6
So, you will need the Combined 10.4.7 updater for whichever one you have, after doing an Archive & Install.
And, yes, the easier way is to wait for Blizzard to provide a better beta, or the final version.
