How to connect to Windows 2000 file server from mac osx

Wired ethernet, wireless LAN, VPN, SMB, AFP, IMAP, FTP, SSH, Remote Desktop, etc.

Can you be more specific? Do you mean "connect" in terms of protocols? Do you mean "connect" in terms of the actual network? Do you mean "connect" in terms of accessing volumes on the server, printers on the server, FTP servers on the server, or... ? What exactly do you mean by "connect to a windows file server?"

You answered my question. Here is the predicament i am in. Check out my thread. http://forums.macosxhints.com/showthread.php?t=56994

Now when i connect to the server from our macs, we go to go network and there is a folder named PFW MAC SERVERS
in which we use to connect. I don't know how the admin before me set that up, but that is how they connect. If i try smb there are some shares that have the file types that are correct and others that are not. SMB saves correctly without disappearing. But since the file types aren't correct, i tried using afp...Afp does the same thing as going to PFW MAC SERVERS to connect-When they open a quark document and make a change it disappears on the volume only to mac users. But, all the file types are correct using AFP. If i go to the file server it is still there and i have to make a copy of it again so they can see it. I need help badly. Thanks, bob.

And the thing is i would use the smb, but the .eps files are showing up as postscript files, but they do open up in photoshop when you drag the file to the application. How can you fix that? Also, since the quark files are showing up as unix files i would have to change the extension to .QXD so the icon changes to a quark document.
