How to do a clean install...

Hey everyone,

Over the year that I have owned my iMac G5, I've been sloppy about where everything is supposed to go. I've done a lot of transitions in that year, so now I would like to do a clean install of 10.4. However, I am not sure where to begin. I have backed up everything I need to continue on a DVD, so I am just trying to figure out how to reformat the drive and install 10.4 on its own.

I've tried to search for a topic similiar to this with no luck, so it should be a very good question for future reference.

Simply boot from the Mac OS X Install DVD and select the "Erase and Install" option when installing.

Boot from the Tiger disc. You can use the Installer and choose Clean Install, or use Disk Utility in the Utility Menu to format the disk first, then go ahead and install the system.
