How to remove DS_Store file before archiving a directory?

Hi,

I was trying to archive a folder and then I saw that there is a DS_Store file in the folder and in each of the sub folders. Even if I remove the file, it gets created automatically.

How do I get rid of this file in the archived file? I want to distribute the archived folder to my friends (windows users) but definitely don't want one DS_Store sitting on every other folder.

P.S : I tried unchecking the "Folders" options in Spotlight as well.

There are several free third party apps that will stop those. My favorite is Tinker Tool but there are many others.

There is also a very simple app, called FinderCleaner, that will clean these files from removable drives and folders. It even ejects the removable drive for you, when finished. TinkerTool is great, too, but for the other features it gives you in many other areas.
