Hi I have a movie DVD I'd like to rip off, what tool do I need when I need to have the view & and the sounds, and not only one of them?

Thanks!:)

Well I used OSEx to rip it to a .vob file, but the sound is missing, would you know what I did wrong?

If you're using QuickTime to view your VOB (must have MPEG-2 component installed) then you won't hear any audio because QT can't read AC3. Use VLC to watch your VOB. It will give you both audio and video.

Here's the way I rip a DVD. I open the Apple DVD player and find what I want. I then pause it and press control-I. This brings up the info pallet. From there I can tell which title and chapter I want. Then I go into OSEx and choose that title and chapter that I found. I let it extract the vob file. Then I extract and convert the AC3 file from the vob file with mAC3dec. Then I take the audio file and paste it onto the vob file. I then export it as whatever I want.

A little nifty app called V.L.C (VideoLanClient).

But I've found a good solution:

1. Download Y.A.D.E (Yet another DVD extractor)
(It's far out the best extractor cause you have a preview screen so ou can easily see what scene and cell etc. to extract (if you want to extract parts of it that is))

2. Press save streams as.

You'll get (probably multiple) audio file(s) (different languages) and a .mp2 file.

3. You'll have to use "MPEG2Decoder" to make it readable for X. (easy, just press "build" and thats it)

4. Now you have to use DVD Studio Pro or Final Cut Pro to put the audio and video together and make it good.

5. Now open it in Quicktime (pro) and export it to a DV file or something like that.:p Shouldn't be hard. I made myself a screensaver off a DVD! :)
