You mean CUPS (Common UNIX Printing System)? It's used by default. Just add your printer and away you go...

I downloaded cups-58 from Apple site but it is not clear to me what to do with it. I recall the last time I used CUPS, I simply entered something in the url field of the browser. What I have now is far too complicated. I have a LaserWriter 16/600

You don't have to download anything from Apple. CUPS is installed by default. Simple follow symphonix's link, and you'll have complete access to CUPS.
