Have others set this up? My HP4m was such a work horse I just couldn't get rid of it. It is laser. It prints dense black and as an artist I need that for photographic processes I use in my work. So I wish to try what I can to make this work. Any suggestions?

Did you see if the Mac is seeing the card/printer? Just hold down the "option" key and click on the top left hand corner Black Apple and launch System Profiler. There you can see are thing that is connected to you Mac.

Instead of going all around Job's barn to connect your printer via USB, why don't you connect via Ethernet? This way, you won't have to purchase all of the extra hardware.
