I just got my iBook in the mail and...

I booted it up and I found a defunct pixel

Its only 1 but I expected to have a flawless machine.

Does anyone know what Apple's pixel policy is?

I know at my work, we won't service our notebooks until it has 6-7 dead or messed up pixels.

But on a brand new ibook? Call them, I am sure they will send it back. If not, I think they have a 2 week return policy... If that doesnt work, take it to an apple store.

There is a number of pixels that have to be dead first, if I remember correctly, 7, before Apple will declare it defective.

One dead pixel is actually a good track record for an LCD display. I doubt you'll get it replaced, but it won't hurt to try.

Have you tried gently massaging the back of the display directly behind the pixel to see if you can "unstick" the pixel? Sometimes that works.

My old laptop had a line of stuck pixels, about 6 in a row going down from the top of the screen and I had to deal with that for a couple years and now I get a new one and dead pixel right away, lol just my luck
