1ghz TiBook, what i need to know is what the two ribbon cables going from the logic board to the boards attached the superdrive (inverter/modem) actually DO, i think i might have shorted them somehow and now my Pb will not boot, please tell me what is wrong with it and whether its worth fixing...

Most likely those are the IDE (interface) cables for the drive(s), unless I misunderstood what you're describing. If those are the IDE cables, then what they "do" is carry the data to/from the drives.

Those goto the power board they are what makes the mac power up and stay running along with changing your battery. If you shouted them hope to god that it did not kill you main board. You could try to find a Power inverter board with the calbes on Ebay. And just hope that it will power up. Other wise you have just deep sixed your laptop there.

when you say it doesn't boot - does it turn on, do you get a display... what did you do to think you caused the problem??? All these things are important
