( yeah i got the tower g4) thanks you guys

As per Apple's 'Mac OS X keyboard shortcuts' web page - press 'X' as your Mac is booting up, should force MacOS X as the boot OS.

Naturally, once you have booted to MacOS X, then select the 'Apple, System Preferences... ' menu item. Once 'System Preferences' appears, click on the 'Startup Disk' utility, locate and click on the 'Mac OS X ... on ...' icon, and then close the 'System Preferences' window. This way, you should boot to MacOS X the next time the Mac is restarted (rebooted) or turned ON.

...and get a set of install CDs/DVDs as soon as possible. A computer without an operating system install set is like a car without a steering wheel -- sure, you may be able to coast along just fine for a while, but when the street throws you a curve, you won't be ready.

Install CDs/DVDs do much more than simply install an operating system -- they help troubleshoot problems and are useful for installing parts of the OS that weren't originally installed that you may want/need at a later date.

thanks you guys it worked :-). a nother qus though first of all do you know where to buy the install cd's online or something? now about the classic it gives me a errow saying "the system software on the start up disk only functions on the orginal media, not if copied to another drive" is there a way to fix that?

Look up the Apple Store (Apple.com), MacMall, Other World Computing (OWC), MicroCenter, etc. It's a few bucks, but not exorbitant. Dale.
