I saw a similar question on your forum before, but couldn't see the answer...
My wife's ibook (12 inch, 2002) display went black. When we hit restart, we hear the chime and hear the motor briefly, but the screen remains black. I took the battery out and unplugged the power adapter cord, put the battery back in, plugged it back in, restarted, still no display.
One time, just briefly, we got the display back, but then the display started blinking wildly and streaks appeared across the screen. It blinked off and on for a short while and then went black again. I've tried restarting, but just keep getting a black screen.
Please note I have tried this after having fully charged the battery and making sure the computer was completely cool. Any advice is greatly appreciated!
