Ibook Video Issues

Hello I have a IBook with an external reset button. I have bought & tried 2 adapters and neither worked. I need to play my laptop on my TV. I got it looked at and they said it is putting out higher than 640/480. Why? Is there anything else I can do?

What is an "iBook with an external reset button?" Is it an ice-colored iBook, or one of the early, colorful, clamshell-shaped iBooks?
