ichat and aim

when i try to send a video chat to an AIM PC user using ichat it NEVER goes through. my friend clicks accepts and the video freezes up or iChat claims that it is rejected.

can anyone help me fix my problem? We are both using the most up-to-date software on each end.

What kind of routers/gateways do you have between you two? Firewalls? Proxies?

Is your friend running WindowsXP, have the latest version of AIM, and the additional download for video on AIM?

i got Firewalk X on the mac, and she has ZoneAlarm on her PC.

She has the latest version of AIM but i'm not sure about the video part. I always thought that was intergrated into AIM itself

Try changing the port number to 443 this resolved the problem for me.

The video compatibility between aim and ichat is assured in the most recent version of the aol messenger (5.5 if I am not mistaking it). How about simply turning off your and her firewall? Just to test if it's really a blocked port.

Sorry should of mentioned that when I had the firewall turned off at both ends the PC version of AIM wouldn't connect to iChat until I changed the port number.

I came across the port number fix from another forum, been using it ever since.
