iChat Server: Timeout Issue

So I've read tons of forums and have not found a solution for this yet.

My iChat used to work perfectly fine until one day I realized that I wasn't getting any IM's from anyone. I thought the world was mad at me or something. Then, I found out that when I send IM's, my friends are getting them but then it says that I "signed off".

From my p.o.v. it shows my buddy list still up, it says I'm available and everything. But from their p.o.v. it shows that I logged on, sent them a message and then logged off.

I tried using google talk, meebo, aim express, changing my port to 443, calling my ISP to see if my internet may have been losing connection on/off. No problems there. It's only when I try to use a chat client is when this happens. I even tried using Adium. Did not work. I also tried getting on my sn on my dads PC with vista, same problem.

I really have no other idea what could be the problem. Any help/advice/miracles will be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

Bc, I'm honestly about to throw in the towel.

Thanks guys and gals.

I have had the same thing on and off since getting Leopard. In addition my iChat gets disconnected and automatically reconnects VERY often. I haven't yet found a fix for this, changing the ports has no effect.

Well, after about 7 hours of work I finally figured out what was wrong. It seems as if something was tampered with inside my router. I reset it to its factory settings and ran my internet set-up all over again and voila! No more problems!

Thank you to everyone who posted and emailed me with responses. I'm glad this is finally over. I also recommend that anyone else having this issue try and reset their router. (you may need to contact your isp to re-set up your internet afterward).
