If plugged simultaneously, two cloned external drives not recognised (iMac Sierra)

I cloned a USB disk with encrypted partitions into another, identical one (same size, same model...). I changed the name of one of the partitions in finder for one of the disks, to be able to tell them apart. When I plug either of the drives by themselves, partitions are recognised fine. When I have one plugged into the computer and I plug the second one, the partitions of this second drive won't appear in finder (or prompt me to enter password), and in Disk Utility the drive appears, but not the partitions. In the information bar, the three partitions are shown, but instead of their names "Apple_CoreStorage" appears for the three of them. I need to plug them at the same time to copy info from one to the other. I'm in a mid-2011 iMac with Sierra OS. Please, help.

Here is the diskutil list run:

Do you mean that, after a restart, the same drive continues to show in Disk Utility without partition names?

Is there a difference if you shut down, then boot again, still with both drives connected?
Always the same device shows no partition names?

Can you also swap USB ports, so the same drives are not always on the same physical port?

Your 2011 iMac does not have USB 3.0 ports, so one last question:
Do both external drives support USB 3.0 or more - or are they both older drives that are sold as USB 2.0.

Bonus question: Have you tried your copy operation with one or both drives connected through an external hub?
( I am not suggesting purchasing a hub just to test this. )

Yes, they are USB 3.0 capable drives. If I boot the machine with both drives plugged in, the result is the same: one of the drives will not show its volumes. Which, it seems random. I've changed the order in which I plug them, the usb port... Some times one of the drives will show the volumes, and some times the other one. No, I don't have a hub. I was wondering if there is a way to do the dd cloning (or a prior procedure, when formatting the drives) which will mark a difference between the drives recognisable by the system. Thanks for the responses.

I suppose you have tried both drives with encryption turned off (?)

Who is the manufacturer of the external drives? which model? (I have a brand new 8TB Seagate Backup Plus Hub that has several issues)

They are 4T portable G Technology. I didn't tried to turn off encription. I'm giving up on this. I'll reformat them and make a conventional backup, instead. Anyway, thanks for your help.
