iMac G4 Hard Drive? IDE OR ATA

For many purposes, ATA and IDE terminology is interchangeable, although they don't have the same meaning. All ATA drives are IDE, but IDE can also correctly describe a SCSI, or, I suppose, SAS drives.
Your G4 iMac takes a Parallel ATA, and not the newer Serial ATA, or SATA type drives.
