Hi. thanks for taking the time to answer this.

My IMac G5 won't recognize any audio output.
When trying to change the volume, a crossed circle appears under the volume bar.
When trying to set the audio output in system prefereces, says there's no audio output.
When trying to set de midi audio, the option buttons are disabled (light gray).
When trying to open garage band, int says "Selected Driver not found.(-10202)"
even with the headphones plugged doesn't find the audio input.

But the speakers are ok, they play the start sound when turning on the computer.

Thanks again

Valentina

i've tried turning off, unplugging the mac, waiting 20 sec. and turning on again. Checked the HD, and it popps. there's a volume issue taht doesn't allow the mac to finish the test (that i did it using system utilities). Also tried turning it on while pressing opt-comd-p-r at the same time. didn't work either.

it seems the only solution to this is erasin the hd and installing it again...but i want to be shure there's no other way!

Make sure the speakers are powered on and work with ant other device that your Mac. If it does then open /Applications/Utilities/Audio Midi Setup and make sure the output for the speaker port are set to 441000.0 Hz. See if that helps, Good Luck.
