iMovie 6.0.4 FX doesn't work

I listened to all of those who told me to get iMovie 6.0 to replace version 8 and they were right! It is much more user-friendly and seems far more capable. But....

When I select a clip and then Edit/VideoFX I no longer see the clip. I did select the portion where I want the FX to apply, but in the preview pane, I see nothing. Nor does the FX have any effect. In fact, the Apply button never is highlighted. AFAIK, I am following the Help file instructions exactly, but I still get no FX at all.

You people helped me before, so I am calling on you again, please. :o
 
Have you done a "render" clip action? "Apply" applies the effects to the film, but to see the results, you must "render" the effects.
 
Nothing seems to be easier than seeing someone whom you can help but not helping.
I suggest we start giving it a try. Give love to the ones that need it.
God will appreciate it.
 
Thanks, ElDiablo. But for reasons I haven't figured out, it suddenly started working. Probably intervention by space aliens, cosmic rays, or something. ;)
