Imovie

I've tried to drag and import my mpeg files into imovie 4.0.1, but get the message:

can't open file [file name] skipping it and continuing

Please advise....thank you

It could be in a format that iMovie does not understand. What is the exact encoding of the file(s) in question? Is it a DivX file? Is it b-stream packed or whatever that b- thing is?

Where did the file come from? Can you provide a link to the file?

I am getting the same message. I can watch the clips individually but I cannot import them....
