Importing Edited Jpgs Into Iphoto5

If I edit a jpg that is in the iPhoto library with another application (Photoshop Elements) then save as jpg under another name (but still in the original location), then dragging that file to the 'Library' of iPhoto to re-import produces the "Unreadable files" error message: "The following files could not be imported (they may be an unrecognized file type or may not contain valid data)".

Is there some jpg settings that Photoshop is defaulting to that cause this problem or is it something else?
