I've been trying so hard to install this router! Will it be a problem with my os version? I have a MacBook Pro OS X 10.4.11 Tiger . Couldn't get any software to work and help me, and when trying manually it always displays that my IP adress is private. I use a static connection and have all the information from the provider!

Help!!!

OK to install a router you must do some simple steps:

1. Read the router manual, especially to get that router's login address and default username/password.

2. Power off your cable/DSL modem.

3. Buy 10/100 Ethernet CAT5E or CAT6 cables for modern routers of 100 network speed.

4. While the cable/DSL modem is powered off cable the modem Ethernet port to the router's WAN port.

5. Turn on your cable/DS> modem and wait for it to connect to your ISP.

6. Take your Mac and cable the Ethernet port to a LAN port on the router (even if it is wireless router).

7. On the Mac open System Preferences->Network and set you Ethernet port up to DCHP and click on Apply.

8.Log into that router by the supplied IP address listed in the router's manual and put it the default username/password when it ask for a login. This is why it is important to have the routers manual.

9. Set up the router with you OWN username/password.

Look around the router configurations to really protect you home network. Just remember what usename/password you set up.
