I am unable to play sound from the internal speakers on my G4 powerbook. Under the sound preferences, sound output is currently set to headphones and internal speakers is no longer an option to set it to. Does anyone know how i can add this back as an option? As one would assume sound still plays when i attach headphones or even external speakers. it appears my os suddenly forgot it has internal speakers.

please help.
note: I'm running on tiger 10.4

definently not. is the option to switch back to speakers disabled when headphones are in? if so, the port could be the source of the problem.

does anyone have any ideas asside from re-booting my os? or how to fix the port if it is the source malfuction.

Have you actually tried listening to sound through headphones/external speakers to see if it works? If not, it would be a good idea to try and post back here with your finding. I think it will help disgnose the problem :)

When you have something plugged in to the headphone jack, the Device name in the sound panel changes from "Internal Speakers" to "Line Out" (at least thats what it does on mine)

oddly enough, just as the problem came about it was corrected. some how it just fixed itself. i can't say how, i didn't do anything i hadn't already tried. one day i turned the cpu on and the sound was working again. my os finally relized that the headphones were disconnected and the intenal speakers went back on.

You should reset the pram to be safe.
