Internet Settings Disappear

I've recently encountered strange problems with my internet settings vanishing every time I "sleep" my computer or shut it down. In every case, to create a working WiFi link again, I have to go back to my system settings, select the location I want to use, then everything activates. This is an annoyance to say the least.

I've restarted. I've run Disk Utility/Repair Permissions. I've not (yet) rebuilt my directory.

Any ideas why this phenomenon is happening? Any help in how to stop it short of rebuilding the directory?

Thanks. Of course that's how to adjust settings or create them. It doesn't stop the problem that's causing my settings to change every time the computer is shut down or put in sleep mode. I am curious what might be causing this phenomena to happen if anyone might know as well as how to stop it from happening.
