iphone not charging from Powerbook G4

I cannot get my iphone to recharge from the usb ports on my powerbook G4. It syncs OK, but no charge. Have to use regular AC outlet with adapter and then it charges quickly and well.
Can anyone help please?
 
The USB ports on some Apple portables (The PowerBook and MacBook Pro, most notably) seem to have underpowered USB ports. They sometimes have trouble powering bus-powered hard drives, requiring a special cable that connects to two USB ports to provide enough power for the portable computer to spin up and mount the hard drive.

If you can get your hands on one of these Y-shaped USB adaptors, you may have some luck charging the phone with your PowerBook G4.
 
On my PowerBook, one USB port is powered and one is not. Try switching ports. A powered USB hub would also help.
