It depends on what version of iPhoto you're using, what version of Mac OS X you're using, and whether or not the iPhoto application itself is corrupted or whether it's simple a preference file corruption.
Please elaborate greatly on your computer, software and setup. It is nearly impossible to troubleshoot "iPhoto crashed."
You can use a program called "Pacifist", available with a simple search, to extract application packages from the original install media.
