iPhoto suddenly not loading

Hi there, out of the blue my iPhoto will not load. an outline of the program will appear and then says, "iPhoto has unexpectedly quit."

i found a few threads w/ similar problems to mine, followed their instructions but the other cases were a bit different.

last night i was tinkering w/ some file sin iPhoto (which was running terribly) along with Photoshop; adjusting photos, printing and so on. maybe i damaged a file?

I am running a G4 Powerbook (powerPC), originally had Tiger on it and i upgraded to Leopard 3 months ago w/ no problems as of yet (other than my sound muting occasionally). I have 30 GB of free space as well.

help i'm trying to show my family my great photos over the holidays!

Or rebuilding the iPhoto database?

The process to do so is found with a simple Google search or search on Apple's knowledge base.
 
well thanks for the replies.

i did run the "rebuild iPhoto database" as you mentioned. both automatically (which did nothing except load iPhoto w/ no photos and froze) and manually (which iPhoto loaded and i was able to drag the "iPhoto Folder" in Finder to the App).

Great! everything was fine when i did the latter. but the next day when i tried to access iPhoto, i got the same problem i originally had = the application not even loading.

so now im stuck...again! help!
 
Well did you use fryke's suggestion of going to the folder /YourHardDrive/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/ and find the Preference file com.apple.iPhoto.plist and Trash it?
 
Satcomer is correct to my opinion-have had same prob. in past- just trash the iphoto prefs and all should be well.

sorry, yes i did trash the preferences folder. both back before i rebuilt the library and afterward, each time it made no difference.
