Hi,

I am a perspective buyer of the iPod Color 20GB (Yes, the older one)....(great deal and it has everything I need)...I want to use it on my Mac G4 Tower, OS X 10.2.8 and the latest version of iTunes. I was reading somewhere that it needs iPhoto v. 4....I dont have that. Is that required even if I dont want to put pictuers on my iPod?
Thnx..

Probably not... But I couldn't really say. I *guess* it'll just be treated as a normal 4th generation iPod if you can't enable iPhoto support. But then again: Why do you want to buy the colour version? Might find a better price on a 30 or 40 GB greyscale model, which certainly gives you more for the money if you don't intend to use the photo-capability.

Yes, you do need iPhoto 4 to use the photo capabilities of the iPod Photo.

You may also need Mac OS X version 10.3 or greater to use the latest iTunes software. Check the software requirements of the 20GB color iPod model -- you may be required to be running 10.3 to use it.

i would prefer a colour model to my greyscale one, just for usability, it's much nicer using the colour screen, and the battery life is superior to that of the greyscale one.

Guess preferences differ. ;) ... I rather have enough space for all my music plus a lot of other files. :)

Well: The 40 GB has enough room for my music now, in two years and probably also in five years. So my upgrade will probably about another feature: Video. The 320*240 doesn't exactly cut it for me, so I hope the next version will add a bigger (and most importantly _wide_) screen as well as more disk space. But most importantly: There's quite a bit of "lack of content" for the iPod video, currently. I know, the US store has some decent TV programmes, but as you may notice, I'm not a US citizen. And over here, there ain't even a simple music video on the iTMS. Podcasts, yes. But only for that...
