ipod firmware

Nope. If it's not supported natively, there is no Apple firmware that will remedy the situation.

You could try researching Linux for the iPod -- it may or may not have that kind of support.

Huh.... if playing AIFF files is important to you, you may want to look into buying a generation 1 or two iPod with old firmware.... back when AIFF files were supported. But then the firmware was updated, and they got rid of AIFF but added AAC (MP4) support.

*shrugs* a suggestion.

lol. Excuse me. I am completely on drugs. I though ElDiabloConCaca's first post was an admission that the new iPods do not play AIFFs, and I remembered that when I upgraded my first generation iPod to play AAC files, they took away AIFF support.

Nevermind the guy with the old iPod. I'm just crazy. sorry.

Did they really? Are you sure? I mean, not to second-guess you or anything, but from what I understand, all normal iPods can play AIFF files just fine! It seems weird that Apple would include that functionality, then take it away!

If so, bummer!
