iPod hates Motorola phones. It's true.

I'm cooking with my first iPod; a 60G video. I'm just curious if anyone else had made the same observation as I have, in that the iPod seems to be very sensitive to near-field RF. Check this out: Driving down the road, jammin' and I receive a phone call on a Nextel i730. iPod goes bezerk, and unfortunately the main nasty side effect was the volume going to maximum. Wow... maybe not a problem for some, but I've got the iPod piped into an Eclipse head unit with a couple thousand watts behind it. Needless to say, I fear for the safety of my component speakers.

In short, it does the same thing with my RAZR phone. I was just curious if others had experienced this phenomenon, or if I need to suspect some bad RF shielding on the iPod. Sense then, I've had to get into the habit of keeping "my kids" on opposite sides of the car, so they don't argue. Pretty bothersome to say the least.

Anyone? Or am I the only person with an iPod that has a bad attitude?

If you think that is weird try using the cell phone right next to a working radio. You will then learn you are seeing the effects of radiation! Now see the affects in the distant future on you hands! Use those cells phones sparingly. It make you think twice about keep the phone in your front pocket while on. Don't believe me, Google will be your teacher.

Lol.. no doubt. But wait!! According to the FCC the 300mW 900MHz transceiver that I'm putting next to my brainstem is perfectly safe!! They wouldn't lie.... would they?

I'm still somewhat convinced that this iPod has some pretty shady shielding... you'd think that they'd be able to fit it in there with the 60G drive, the color screen, the pushbutton pads, the battery, and the cabling.. Geez.. it's not like it's tiny or something. ;-)

On a more positive note, if you're that concerned about RFI mitigating into the more delicate tissues of your brain, (I personally don't have that much)... you could wrap your head in tin foil and run a wire to a ground strap on your shoe. You might look a little wierd, but I'm sure it'll soon be a fashion statement.

"my brain is environmentally friendly" as a chuck a cigarette butt out the window, singing along with Patsy Cline's "I fall to pieces"....

See? It's not that bad.
