Is it bad?

Is it bad to have my macbook plugged into AC power with the battery in constantly? My sister's laptop battery only has about 10 mintues of life in it and I think it's because of this. My Dad's laptop is in the shop b/c of battery/psu issues as well. *Note* Sister's and Dad's computers are not Macs */Note*

Basically, complete a charge cycle once a month. That means using 100% of the batteries charge. Don't do it in one shot, though, use 50% one day, recharge, and then 50% the next.

Store the battery at 50% of you're not going to use it for six months.

Of course, there's no point keeping the battery in shape if you're not going to use it..

As far as I can tell replacement rechargable batteries for notebooks retail at $129 in the US.

If your budget is tight, following eric2006's consistently good advice makes sense (unless you just won the state lotto).

P.S. If you do win the state lotto, can I have your old battery?
