Is there a max temperature for iBook?

While recovering from a heavy cold I have been using the iBook in bed.

It has been resting on the quilt, so well insulated. It gets hot, so I don't use it for extended periods. I have a dashboard widget that says the CPU temp is 58 deg C (137 deg F). Is this too high?

If not, how high is too high?

iBook G4 1.42. Mains charger connected and charging.

Too hot is when it shuts off due to overheating, or smoke can be seen :)
DON'T block the ventilation ports on the left side or the rear hinge area. DON'T use on a padded surface, you're just asking for trouble. A small bed-table, or even a small board, or stiff cardboard - something like that - will be better that laying on a bedspread....

Buy or make something to lift (at the least the backside) it about 3 centimeters off a flat surface. That will let it run even cooler because of the better airflow. You could get something like this or this. There are literally hundreds of models for laptop stands.

The iBook is running cool now at around 38 - 40 (c. 100 deg F).

BUT I forgot the white transformer block on the mains feed. It's been lying on the quilt and is too hot to touch!!
