Hi everyone, I'm interested in buying a powermac in the near future but the price of the DP 1 Ghz 512MB RAM model in ireland is 4233 euro (roughly the same in dollars give or take). I was looking through e-bay and there seems to be a few reasonably priced machines on offer. Is there a switch like the back of a pc to change the voltage? Is anyone else in the same situation? All help and comments are appreciated in advance!

I think they took that off the 2002 line up of Power Mac's. They should however be able to detect which voltage system your on. I asked Apple and other retailer's about this because I wanted to buy on from US myself. There seemed to be some difference in what the Power Mac's can and cannot, but most of them said that they figure it out themselves just like the new iMac.

There is a webpage on Apple's site which shows what they are capable of, look for it in the knowledge base.

I've never seen a Mac that is 115 Volt only. Perhaps some sold for a limited amount of foreign countries. All US versions that I can remember have either a voltage switch 115/230, or no switch, which means Auto-detect voltage (anywhere between 90 and 250 volts, I think) I think all G4s have had selector switches (But I don't see one on the new ones. You should be able to use any US models in Europe with just a plug adapter, or replacement power cable.
