iSub not recognized

or at least it's not working. when i look through system profiler it reads that it is there in the USB area, but only the pro speakers are putting anything out.
when i first got it i just plugged it in and it worked. i've since had to do a complete erase and reinstall, and now it doesn't work.
the power supply is good, i've zapped the pram, repaired permissions...
what's next? any suggestions? thanks.

Okay, i tried unplugging it while i restarted and reset the pram, but to no avail. Also, mine does not have a volume knob. No switches or anything. It's the harman/kardon clear iSub.
any more ideas?

Okay, I see. Mine is older version of sound-sticks with iSub, that has a nob for volume, and sometimes when I clean it I accidentally turned it off.
I am not sure of another solutions, other than trying it with another computer to see if the iSub is actually working..

i'll try that eventually, it's just a big pain to lug that to a mac buddies house since it's at least a few miles in san diego traffic. thanks for the input.

okay guys, for those who tried to help…this one was confusing for me too. All you have to do (if this problem ever arises agian in your circle) is go to system preferences under 'sound' and adjust the iSub volume level if it recognizes it. For some reason when you reinstall it it set at a certain level that minimizes the output for the iSub. We need to wake it up.

Weird. Maybe a third party developer's badly written program screwed with your sound.

A definite possibility. It could also just be an old unit and it's a little temperamental. The sound was set all the way up, and I just ahd to toggle it a little. Anyhow, glad it's over and that nobody else has to do with sub-mediocre bass levels for a month because they couldn't figure it out too.
