Itunes 4.9 Crashing More And More

Since reinstalling after a crash I have had terrible problems with iTunes 4.9. I have just under 5000 songs in my library. I am running 10.3.9. I have two 512 MB DDR SDRAM cards, the most which was available when I bought my flat-screen iMac G4. I have 52 GB unused on my hard drive. The program freezes whenever I try to import a song, burn a CD, or move large numbers of tracks around. It so far does not impact the rest of the system. I am always able to Force Quit.

Here are some of the relevant logs:

Please help, somebody.

First of all, open Disk Utility and Repair Permissions. Then mosey over to Your Hard drive->Users->Your User Name->Library->Preferences-> and throw out "com.apple.iTunes.plist". This may help.

There is a plist error, but its a mail plist??!?

Code:
 com.apple.mail.000d9351b22e.plist -- /Users/main/Library/Preferences/ByHost/
The parser will retry as in 10.2, but the problem should be corrected in the plist.

Yes -- very strange, I thought. Mail was not even opened at the time, I don't think.

But, then again, I do not understand things like Console very much. If someone could talk me through it, perhaps I could diagnose the problem more clearly.
