iTunes Database and files

I have all of my MP3s on an external hard drive. Is it possible to have all the files import into iTunes without having them copy into my home folder? I would like them to only stay on the external hard drive.

Yes -- simply turn off the options "Keep Itunes Music Folder Organized" and "Copy files to Music folder when adding" in the iTunes preferences.

I have mine set up this way -- all my music is on a secondary drive, and I choose not to have iTunes manage the files for me.
