first off i apologize if this is the wrong area for my question. i downloaded an audiobook off itunes its an .m4b i wanted to put it onto my psp for listening at work. however the psp does not reconize the .m4b files also itunes will not allow me to convert it to mp3 because its a protected file (i guess they write something into anything you buy off itunes). when i go into file info and change the extension to .m4a, which works on my psp, it works on the computer but say does not work on my psp. any help would be great, thanks.

Protected files are protected files... trying to convert them to another format, or remove the protection on them is against the license agreement, and, hence, illegal. You can only use iPods with protected material from the iTunes Music Store.

You can burn the protected audiobook to a CD in audio CD format, then re-rip it into a non-protected format if you want to use the file in a different format.
