When I add songs to my library I just select the folder where I keep all of my songs. Unfortunately I just realized while playing with a smart playlist that every time I add my mp3 folder to my library EVERY song is updated and added.

This doesn't work out to well when I want to have a playlist for songs added in the last 30 days. Anyone know what I can do to fix this?

I'm not sure what the problem is.

Could you elaborate on your problem? Describe the exact steps you are taking and what happens when you do something?

I add music to my itunes library by selecting "add to library" in the file menu. When I do this I choose the folder in which I keep ALL of my music. When I do this it updates ALL of my music. I want to just add the songs that aren't in my current library. This is the easiest way to do it because selecting each song individually takes far too long and sometimes I can't find the songs I added or I add the same song more than once.

There has to be a better way to add more than one song at a time to your library.

Create a folder just for songs that are new or updated, until you have an opportunity to import them into iTunes, after which you can move them over to your main folder. You won't have to remember which are new. Then fill it up again with new songs, repeat the process

Why not just turn on "copy songs to iTunes music folder when adding to library"? You double click a file it plays in iTunes and the file is copied to where it needs to be in the library. Delete the original. Done.

Maybe you don't like this option for some reason, but it sure seems to be the easiest solution to me.

err... um. hmm maybe that'll work. :p

::remembers why he moved his iTunes folder to a seperate external hard drive::

The only bad thing about this is the fact that you'll have either 2 copies of the song floating on your HD or that you'll have to delete the originals once they're loaded into the library.

Personaly, I download my music to a specific folder. Once I get the music downloaded I'll place it in the proper directory (I'm very picky about my MP3 organization) then drag just those files or folders into my iTunes window. This will add only these new songs, keeping my "most recent" active playlists working properly.
