Kernel Panic at Login

I am trying to login and it keeps kernel panicing. I tried holding shift while logging in, it worked once. That one time that it did work, I removed all items from from the login items tab (removed, not uncheck). However, it still kernel panics, and holding shift wont do anything. Any tips?

I am using a G5 running the most current version of OS X.

Run fsck from the Single-User-mode. Then to run the fsck command look at the Apple document Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck and see if it helps. Good Luck.
