Keyboard Illumination won't work

It's funny: I have two accounts on my Powerbook G4, one for my wife and one for me. Her keyboard in her account is illuminated but mine in mine is not. How can I get it back?

I do have 'keyboard illumination' turned on on both accounts and in both cases both system prefs are exactly the same for both accounts. I'm stumped! How do I get illumination back on in my account?

This probably won't help, as I'm sure you've done this, but the only thing I could think of was the F10 key. I tried altering the keyboard illumination settings and then doing a find (visible and invisible) for files changed "Today" but nothing came up. Weird....

can you find the relevant preferences file (.plist) and delete it? after a reboot, it might be different.

I lost mine one time but to get back I just reset my Pram.

You're just in an area which is to light to use it. Try going in a dark room and then press the F10 key.

Unfortunately I've tried it in a dark and light room and the result is the same.
