My keyboard suddenly stops working sometimes, all keys, randomly, and especially when there has been no activity for a while. The only thing I can do is restart, and all works again. the mouse is NOT effected by the keyboard NOT working. I have researched the forum here, and also played with unchecking and checking preferences, but no help. I have an imac running OS v 10.6.6. Anyone?

Are you using a wired or wireless keyboard?
Do you have a second keyboard to test that with?
Did it happen before 10.6.6 update?
I think 10.6.7 is out, so that would be good to install too.

When keyboard starts to act, what gets generated in Console? It's in /Applications/Utilities.

keyboard is wired.
No, this is my only keyboard
no, this only started in the past couple weeks, have had snow leopard running few months.
I'll install the update as suggested, thanks.
I have not checked console when the problem exists.
This now always happens when I have no activity now for over an hour or so.
but also just happened this morning when I was using it constantly for a couple hours.

There is a lot of info in console, never checked that before. what tab am I looking for for an error message?

Thanks for your help

If reseting the PRAM doesn't clear it - definitely try that first -:

'All messages' in Console.
If you have Console app running on the background, you can use the mouse to switch to it once the keyboard thing happens - you will see the new messages and errors generating there in real time. Whatever gets there as new text after the hiccup starts to happen could be relevant.
