I have a LDAP server running on a freeBSD and it handles all network auths including network logins. For a long time I've been trying to get the macs at work to use the directory server for net logins but failed until leopard rolled along. However our company is VERY small and has a VERY small budget so macs running leopard are a few amongst the many tigers, which out number them. Also we do not have a xserve available at our disposal...(don't ask why but the windows admin needs it for their use in accounting...) nor the budget to purchase a referb...
anyways, so my question is: is there a way to get Tiger or even earlier version of OS X to work with a directory server for login? I know on leopard it's in Preferences->Accounts->Login Options->Network Account Server: Join. But I guess this is new and only for leopard. Correct me if I am wrong.
Best.
