Leopard: Editing MP3 Information outside iTunes

Hello.

As a perfectionist, this is an issue that's been plaguing me for almost a year.

I can't seem to find a way to edit mp3 and wave information in leopard. In fact it seems like the fields are totally unresponsive to anything. I want to edit this information and the album art outside of iTunes, because while it's very easy to do within the application, it doesn't seem to effect the source file's information.

Thank you for your help.

There are a number of different programs out there that will let you edit ID3 tag information outside of iTunes:

http://www.three-2-one.com/321apps/main/global/index1.htm
http://www.chaoticsoftware.com/ProductPages/MP3Rage.html

iTunes stores some ID3 information inside of the MP3 files and some of it in it's own database... this depends on a number of things, including the location of the file (local or network) and whether ID3 information was previously embedded in the file or not.

So yeah, using iTunes to edit ID3 information will only be reliable if you use iTunes as your sole music player and don't need to view or edit ID3 information outside of the program.

The links I posted above both embed the ID3 information directly in the file.
