Limiting sound output

Is there a way to only allow the sound from one program to be heard? If I am listening to iTunes, I don't want sounds from other programs to intrude. I know many allow programs you to mute their sound, but I would like a 'mute all programs except xxx' ability. Has anyone created such a utility?

You can turn the beeps off in System Preference->Sound. another way is a shareware program called Detour.

Satcomer: thanks. Right now Detour seems to really mess up Tiger,, so I will wait for a rewrite
