Login Language

using second hand G5 on 10.4 owned from a German
while all menus are in Italian, like choosen,
the login screen remains in German

suggestions ??

I am sure someone will come up with a better solution. But how about backing up your files and using the installation disc, erase the hard drive and reinstall the operating system from scratch? That way you can set the langauge preferences right at the start of the new install.

login dialogue depends on the language the OS X was installed "using ... as main language". so you may switch the OS X language later as often as you wish, but to change that login language, you'll need to install OS X from scratch.

Follow this link and use Terminal, which you should find in Applications/Utilities and follow the instructions.

I had a similar problem with a second hand G5 which I purchased from a Polish user. This was the only way I could find to change the login language. Everything else seemed straight forward.

it was a lot of time ago ...........
I solved in 2005 with Tinkertools
I then cancelled the issue when I reinstalled a new OS, I think was Tiger
