lost admin password-no install disc

to make a LONG story short, I ended up with the MacBook and he got the couch! thing is we dont speak and i don't know the admin password. I've read the threads but sadly am still at a loss to understand. Can this be fixed without the original install disc? or will any MB 10.5 install disc do? If so, where might i find one, please?

You can do it through a retail version of 10.5 or any version of OSX that will boot that system if you have one or know someone with one. At our shop we usually will do it for customers who don't have their disks or don't know how for 1/2 hour labor or $40.00.

All you need is an OS X installer disk. You can purchase one at any shop that sells Apple brand software. It will be in a black box with a large 'X' across the front.
Boot to that disk, and run the Change or Reset Password from the Utilities menu.

I've had the same problem, i can't find the exact website i used, but if you follow the steps on this website, it should do the trick. It allowed me to create a new admin account, and from there i just deleted the account that came with the computer. Anyway Good luck

Sure, that takes care of the lost-password issue, but the OP said the Leopard install disk was not available. Purchasing a Leopard disk allows you to do repairs, password resets, other utilities, and - well - reinstall Leopard, if that becomes necessary. You can't do that without having the reinstall software available.

Yeah, and i realize that he doesn't have his own disc, but if he just wanted to get into the computer and use it until he can get a disc, then that method works perfect. I agree everyone should have a disc just in case it because necessary, but for the particular problem at hand, he can just use that so he has a computer to use.
