Today I was wiping the free space my external hard drive, my power went out and because my WD drive uses an external power source the drive cut out mid wipe and now has left me with virtually no free space. Its a 2TB drive and I have probably 350-400GB of family photos and home movies among other projects and work related items. I was very thankful that the power surge didnt fry or make my hard drive unrecoverable but now it shows only 205KB of free space. I really need this free space back for finishing a project Im doing. I read that this issue is fixed with and a flush of the front end cache for the boot drive but I want to know if it can be done with an external drive without OSX installed on it. I ran disk utility's verify disk and everything came back okay. any help is greatly appreciated!
