Lost Set Up Assistant!!

Emac 1.25gh, 150GB hd,1 gb sdram running 10.58

I recently cloned my emac to a similar emac...all went well but afterwards I noticed that my Set Up Assistant would not open ..say that it quit unexpectedly...I try to relaunch and then a message comes up with a choice to reset and relaunch but it goes arround in circles and fails to open.

I tried replacing SetUpAssistant with a back up version from an external HD but that did not work either...is there a peference somewhere that needs replacing or dumping, then a restart??
If not, what can I do to get SetUpAssistant back?? Bearing in mind that I do not have the 10.5 disc but I do have a 10.4.
Tried fsck and disc first aid....but no further forward.
Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks for replying....I bought the emac on ebay with 10.5 preloaded but with no discs. The second emac also a 1.25Gh was also from ebay and cam with 10.3 on and I have managed to clone from mine onto the new one. Both work fine but with no setup assistant....maybe you only ever use this when you first set it up with a new system.....perhaps I won't need it ever again!!
