Documents created on a 9.2 system, going to a 10.6 system, is a big step into the future.
You may have some files that are too old, and use an application that won't work or won't easily convert to something that your 10.6 apps might be able to use.
A quick example is Microsoft Works documents...
The quickest way to get those files would be to copy those files to a USB flash stick. You would quickly be able to see what will work, and what won't work.
Maybe you can tell what apps that you used on the old G3. That may help someone here provide an easy answer.
