Not sure why but froze or crashed,, Ive tryed to install the backup cd, that came when i bought the mac, tryed the hardware tool says hardware working no problems can be a systems problem. what can i do to get past the blinking ? folder?????????????????
 
Boot to your install/restore DVD again, and run Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
Does Disk Utility show your hard drive?
If so, what is the result when you run Repair Disk (different from Repair Disk Permissions)
If not, then you will likely need to replace your failed hard drive....
 
If it really _is_ a system problem (and it sounds like it), you could clean install the original operating system, update it to the latest available online updates (Software Update) and then bring back your data from a backup. If it's the harddrive failing, the same would apply for a new harddrive. The MacBook, luckily, is one of the easiest Macs to replace a harddrive in.
