Howdy,
As of February, I have not been able to send or receive mail in my Mac Mail version 2.0. It seemed to happen for no reason. I've contacted my internet provider, and gone over my account info over and over again and still no luck. It says it rejects my password. Any suggestions?
thanks,

How are you trying to set up your Mac Mail (IMAP, POP3, Exchange)? Do you have anyone hosting your email such as http://www.themessagecenter.com/ if so the server setting may have changed.

Have you checked with your ISP (comcast, ATT&T,NetZero and ect)? The ports you are using may be incorrect. I do understand they may have worked before but times changes.

I did try all you suggested to no avail. They said it was impossible it didn't work. Any more suggestions?

How are you trying to set up your Mac Mail (IMAP, POP3, Exchange)?

I would also suggest repairing your keychain configuration.

On your Desktop:

1. Click on Applications.

2. Click Utilities.

3. Double Click on Keychain Access.

4. In the toolbar (on top of the screen) Click on Keychain Access.

5. You should now see a drop down menu > click on Keychain First Aid.

6. You will now have the options Verify or Repair > click Repair.

Thank you, but that didn't work either. I did all you said, and it said there were no repairs needed. I tried sending myself an email there and it won't accept my password.

BTW, I can get mail in all my other accounts (Outlook Express and my internet provider's homepage email) with the same address. It just doesn't work for my Mac Mail anymore. Any other suggestions? I don't like any of the other programs! I love Mac Mail!

In order to fully troubleshoot this please provide more detail on how you are attempting to access your Mac Mail. Is the mailbox your trying to set up as IMAP, POP3 or a Full Exchange account?

Plus when you open Mail go to the menu item 'Window' and in the drop down select 'Connection Doctor'. This way you can see the steps what mail is doing, especially if you select the 'Show Detail' button.

Hi, thank you, but it says my internet connection is working properly. I just got off the phone with my provider and all is well on their end. I can get my mail in my Outlook Express Mail, but now I can't get it on my server's website or in Mac Mail. They said it must be something in my computer that's the problem. I did change a few things, and now I can SEND with my Mac Mail, but I still can't receive. It said something about not being able to connect to port 110, but like I said, port 110 works for everything else. Any other suggestions? For example, doesn't my Mac OS 10.4 automatically defrag my files and clean up my system and have an anti virus at work, etc? how do I find that out? I used to use Norton for the OS 9.
thank you!

ps. I just talked with my mako.com people again, and the problem is definitely with my Mac somehow. WE go into Preferences/Advanced, and for some reason it won't save my password. At least we've cornered something!
